I made this necklace by hand, one bead at a time. The almost round white freshwater beads are carefully selected for their soft luster, and between several of them, I tie small knots by hand. It is an ancient beading technique that originated in China and subsequently Japan; the method has been used for generations, especially in classic beadwork. Originally, the knots were used to protect the beads so they would not rub against each other, and to prevent the entire necklace from being lost if it were to break.

For me, the knots are also a clear mark of quality. They give each bead its own space, make the necklace more flexible, and give it the beautiful, graceful drape that only a hand-knotted beaded necklace has. It is work that requires time and care – but I like feeling the process in my hands, and I think it gives the necklace a special sense of calm and strength.

The necklace is available in different variations. The only difference is the clasp itself.
- Necklace A is made with a 925 sterling silver extension chain. It measures 42.5-47cm.

- Necklace B is made with a gold-plated 925 sterling silver ball clasp where the length is fixed and measures approx. 44cm.

- Necklace C is made with a solid 14 karat gold ball clasp where the length is fixed and measures approx. 42cm.

A simple, timeless piece of jewelry, created with great respect for the materials and the craft traditions that I myself build upon.
